{"id":1545,"date":"2019-12-09T15:18:07","date_gmt":"2019-12-09T15:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/triciawilson.co.uk\/?p=1545"},"modified":"2019-12-09T15:18:07","modified_gmt":"2019-12-09T15:18:07","slug":"san-antonio-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/triciawilson.tyler.gb.net\/?p=1545","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio, Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We stayed in Texas for a few days after my week of quilting\nso my husband could go to the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Circuit of the\nAmericas in Austen.&nbsp; Lewis Hamilton\nbecame the 2019 World Champion after that race.&nbsp;\nWe also went to an NBA basketball game in San Antonio to see LeBron\nJames play for the LA Lakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was more interested in the San Antonio Riverwalk which I\nalways pictured as being some sort of wooden boardwalk but it turns out that it\ngoes for fifteen miles and has numerous shops and eateries along the way.&nbsp; It is made up of parts of a natural river as\nwell as connecting canals and it runs underneath street level with access\nstairs and bridges.&nbsp; When we were there\nit was D\u00eda de Muertos (Day of the Dead) festivities with an illuminated parade\nof boats in the downtown area of the Riverwalk and painted skull decorations\neverywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also visited the Alamo \u2013 a historic Spanish mission and\nfortress compound founded in the 18th century by Roman Catholic missionaries.&nbsp; It was the site of the Battle of the Alamo in\n1836 and is now referred to as The Shrine of Texas Liberty. Today it is a\nmuseum in the Alamo Plaza Historic District and a part of the San Antonio\nMissions UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped
